How is animal cruelty illegal when animals such as chickens and cows are killed and eaten inhumanely?
Q. It is a crime to abuse dogs, cats, etc. but when it comes to other animals such as chickens, pigs, cows, etc. those laws do not apply and they are killed brutally and inhumanely then eaten by the general public and it is conisidered Ok to continue with such practices when some humans are starving and you could kill two birds with one stone metaphorically speaking by instead of raising cattle or such animals to be eaten on the same square of land feed 10 times more people and refrain from animal abuse of all kinds.

What can we realistically do to creat real change to reduce cruelty to animals raised for human consumption?
Q. Understand that I absolutely do not believe that an animals life has near the importance or relavance than that of a human beings life. On the other hand, the deplorable conditions and the unjust manner and cruelty with which some animals are treated is morally wrong. However, I am of the belief that for optimal health, ones diet should include some animal products, which for me includes only milk and eggs. That being said, even though these animals are not slaughtered to obtain the milk or eggs, I know that many of them are treated poorly and live miserable lives, and will ultimatly be slaughtered. If someone could share with me practical ways of reducing this suffering I would like to hear them. For me, becoming a vegan is not an… [cont.]

A. I think I might be able to help. I did some research, and found out how horribly laying hens are treated, and how toxic commercial milk is. First, the hens. They are often force molted, to improve their output, by starving them for up to 14 days at a time. They are fed pesticide laden grains, growth hormones and antibiotics, which passes into the eggs. When they are too useless to lay anymore eggs, they are slaughtered and turned in to canned meats and cat food. Now, for the milk. Cows, too, are first fed the wrong diet. Cows are meant to eat grass. They are fed a diet of pesticide laden grains, and often brains and other organ meats from their dead ancestors. They, too, are given milk producing hormones, steroids, and… [cont.]

A. HSUS has been brought to court cause so little of the $$ they collected for Katrina relief actually went to the animals. Charges were dropped when they put up a new shiny animal shelter. This is not the first time this has happened or the only group. PETA's shelter spent big $$ on a walk in freezer for the bodies- way more than for food

Do you think that cruelty to animals is punished severely enough?
Q. There have been some really cruel, sadistic attacks on dogs in the area where I live recently, and it got me thinking that cruelty to animals should carry stricter punishments. In many places people walk away with really light sentences for this kind of thing, when surely people who show this kind of callousness are capable of eventually doing the same to humans. People who do this kind of thing to animals are scum, and deserve to be treated as such.

A. You know I was reading the newspaper a few days and there was a story about a man who kicked his pregnant wife to death. He got five years. A few pages later, there was thief who got 15 even though he never used any violent means. Does the punishment always fit the crime? No. But that's true of all crimes.

I'm against animal fur farms and animal cruelty, but I eat meat. Should I be allowed to say i love animals?
Q. Okay, so I love animals, I really do, (when they're alive that is). I really do hate how people can abuse them, and treat them horribly anywhere, especially fur farms. I eat meat though, and I don't think I could stand being a total vegetarian. Do I sound hypocritical and stupid? P.S., I am aware how humans abuse them even before becoming a meat product, and It does disgust me how they torture them, but I still love meat too much.
Asked by Lonnie - Sun Sep 20 01:21:53 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No, you're not being a hypocrite. I eat meat too and don't like the way the animals are treated sometimes. You can raise food and still be nice to it. You don't have to beat the cow senseless before putting a bullet in its brain. Fur farms: Waste of an animal. They raise the buggers, kill 'em, rip off their skin and then only use the skin. That is wasteful and cruel. An animal should be used as totally as possible if it is killed: meat, skin, and whatever else you can use. The food farms do a little more as far as use of the animal, even if the treatment is lousy. The meat is all used and (I hope) the good cow hide is used also for boots/belts/coats/purses/ whatever. But I won't stop eating meat either because of some bad processing… [cont.]

A. No - it's not cruelty. In fact - most dog experts recommend this as it supports the dogs den instincts.. Most dogs actually prefer to be kenneled at night. I leave the kennel door open for mine and they climb right in and stay there. It's their favourite spot.

How can I help prevent cruelty to animals?
Q. One of the little demon children who live a couple of houses down from me tortured to death dozens of neighborhood animals before they got caught (and sent to juvie, thank God), but it really disturbed me. Is there any place I can volunteer to help animals that have been abused, or anything? I just love my own dogs so much... lol. I hate people like that.

A. me too. try to see if there is an ASPCA(The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)near you. They fight against animal cruelty. I think you can volunteer at their shelters. It's so wonderful to see mistreated animals get adopted and start again with a new loving owner. Best of luck to you!

Q. Also, the people who test makeup on animals and kill animals for clothing, what are they called?? Thank you guys!!!
Asked by moniCACA! - Fri Nov 30 14:18:33 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Animal Abuse, Cruelty to Animals, Animal Neglect...the list goes on. There are different charges for every situation, and they differ from state to state. Animal testing for the purposes of makeup and clothing is plain cruel Animal testing for vaccines and health, is a neccesary evil. The average human being will live 22.5 years longer because of animal testing. This testing is done with strict guidelines, and the animals are not allowed to suffer. Insulin treatment was discovered with animal testing, and hopefully a vaccine for avian influenza will be discovered some day. Those vaccines that are in your dog and cat, tested on mice to ensure they actually work, and will not cause harm to your animals

Would you support the capital punishment for all acts of cruelty to animals? ?
Q. Would you support the capital punishment for all acts of cruelty to animals? Thank you for your answers. @ Slick: thank you for realizing my true purpose in posting this question and your love for animals. I also agree with your recommendation of other penal code rather than capital punishment for cruelty to animals. Thanks.
Asked by Kore Herakliteia - Mon Sep 8 14:06:36 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Capital punishment is a bit extreme though I understand your feelings about it. Some people are really sick in the head and just have no morals or feelings at all about this. The worst are the people who entertain themselves at animals expenses.. Michael Vick is one example of someone I would love to get my hands on... Mandatory prison time is a little more realistic though I doubt it will ever happen. Too many people feel like the earth and all non human animals have no rights at all.

Are we humans guilty of extreme acts of cruelty towards animals?
Q. Research now proves that farm animals know that they are taken to be butchered , when they see the knife , axe or guillotine from a distance, and how some animals develop tears while some urinate blood due to fear. how terrible is that?
Asked by cactus - Sun Oct 11 22:55:26 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Can you cite this research? Links to documents and studies, for example? Sorry if I don't just up and take your word for it. I think you've been duped by someone playing on your emotions. I don't see how an animal who has never encountered a type of weapon before would know what it would be used for upon first viewing it. I've been around a lot of cows and they aren't the brightest of beasts. Besides, as Sal said, they aren't even butchered with blades any more, or at least it is very rare. Haven't been for decades.

Everyone on Yahoo Answers should read the cruelty to animals in Puerto Rico.?
Q. It's posted today, there is actually a place called "dead dog beach" where people come and run over puppies and bags or kill them with machetes. I know this isn't a question, but I would like to know how to get the word out so people stop spending American Dollars visiting that country until they begin humane treatment of animals. Since Puerto Rico is a "territory" of the US, the more reason we should react to the inhumane treatment of animals.

A. Absolutely. "Cruelty to animals" means causing excessive or unnecessary suffering to them. Killing an animal, in and of itself, does not constitute cruelty. Hey, we put criminals to death and that's not considered cruel either, under the law. Just don't listen to anything those idiot "PETAphiles" tell you, they hate humans far more than they love animals.

Q. Would being cruel to a dog or a bird for example be worse than being cruel to another person?
Asked by yetii - Mon Sep 28 08:56:32 2009 - - 23 Answers - 0 Comments

A. by all rights it should, a human is self aware and not innocent, whereas a dog does only what it's instinct's and pack (that can also mean owner) trains it to do. so cruelty to an animal i think is worse. yet god made man in his own image so i suppose it is a greater affront yet easier to understand because the human has more qualities that perhaps justify the cruelty. whereas the animal would not have merited that cruelty at all. so in my opinion i think god see's Cruelty to a human is worse but easier to forgive Cruelty to an animal is not as bad as to a human but harder to forgive.

Due to the cruelty on animals, should we become vegetarians?

Asked by Angelicia - Fri Apr 24 03:42:01 2009 - - 15 Answers - 0 Comments

A. No. I think people should be free to decide what they wish to eat. Being a vegetarian can still negatively impact animal populations and human populations. Ideally, people would know where their food comes from an make an informed decision. That cup off coffee you drink, the banana you snack on are all imported from farms which have raped the landscape, destroyed habitats, and if that isn't bad enough they tend to use a lot of exploitive labor practices including child labor. The plants are covered in chemicals, trucked across the contiinant and sold to you. This is so that we can all have Bananas and Coffee, plants which are in no way native to North America, however we have such a great demand for them that in south america they… [cont.]
