How do I make the cows in the pasture behind my house be quiet in the morning?
Q. There is a pasture directly behind the subdivison I live in that has cows in it. Recently the owner started feeding the cows in the pasture right behind my house. Now they hang out there in the mornings and wake me up very early sometimes with their mooing. Is there any humane way I could make them be quiet, or is there some place I could file a complaint? If it was a person making the noise, I could just call the cops, but what do I do about cows?

A. You could yell out your window"HEY!"Or talk to the farmer and tell him whats going on,maby he will move the feeding place.

Is it ok to start introducing cows milk to my 11 month old, she has been eating cheese/yogurt for a few months?
Q. if she is showing no sensitivity to cheese or yogurt.. should she really have a problem with cows milk? And should i go with organic cows milk to start?

A. I definitely know a lot of people who did w/o trouble - however, you should be _introducing_ it only, not totally replacing formula/breast milk, as you know. And you probably want to wait if there is a history of any dairy-related problems in your family. There is nothing magic about 12 months, it is just an average age that babies can usually deal with cow milk proteins (the culturing breaks down the lactose in cheese and yogurt) plus are starting to be ready to go off formula/breast milk because solids are providing more of their nutrition. Organic or not is a choice that is up to you - many people feel more comfortable with organic milk, but actual studies haven't shown any health benefits (see here: and many many people give their… [cont.]

How will my dominant horse act around cows?
Q. I was just wondering how my naturally dominant mare, who has never been around anyone but horses and people as far as I know, will react to be in a pasture of cows and 1 old mule (typically by himself) as the only horse in the group. We plan to move her to a friends pasture, who is planning to buy cows. We will then cojoin this pasture with a niebors pasture who has a mule who is always by himself and doesn't recieve much interraction. Thank you.

A. You should make sure to let your vet know your horse will be living with cows, I think there is a disease your horse needs to be vaccinated against when horses and cows share a pasture. Sorry I couldnt answer your Q, I just wanted to give you a heads up on the arrangement.

Whats the difference between casein in breast milk and cows milk?
Q. I've been reading quite a lot lately about how bad for you casein is in milk from cows for humans. Can someone tell me the difference between the casein found in cows milk as opposed to casein found in breast milk. thanks. Punkrock, i already know about the other stuff, i was more interested in the casein. I don't drink milk anyway, but i appreciate your responses about it.
Asked by thexfilez - Mon Dec 15 21:43:59 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There isn't really. Casein is a type of protein. Its made from a couple of specific chains of amino acids. They serve the same purpose in human milk and cow milk, so there isn't really a difference at all, health-wise. The biggest difference between the milks is the digestability. Human breast milk is made specifically for human consumption. Cow's milk is made for cows. So the casein, as well as the sugars, and pretty much everything else in the milks, will be easier for us to digest when they're from human sources. Humans can get more "bang for the buck" so to speak, from breast milk than from cow milk, since our bodies break down the breast milk better.

A. When I milked them a long time ago, Holsteins were known to give the biggest volume of milk. Jerseys gave the biggest percentage of butter fat. As a milker, I preferred milking the Holsteins because they were bigger and slower so getting kicked by them was easier to avoid than getting kicked by the Jerseys. Also, the Holsteins were easier to get the milk started because the four handles were bigger. A disadvantage was that they are taller so when the poop hits the concrete floor, the manure splatters farther and there is more of it so we wore bathing caps and tried to not smile.

Can I start slowly introducing cows milk to my son?
Q. I know that I should "ask the doctor" and I plan on doing that at his appointment next week but I was wondering what other moms out there have done. My son is 9 months old and has eaten cheese and yogurt with no allergic reaction. I would like to start slowly introducing (2 %) cows milk to him, but I was wondering how some of you started it out. Can cows milk be mixed with formula (half and half) or would that throw off some of the vitamins in the formula? Any help or suggestion are appreciated! Thanks.

A. I just took my son to his 9 month check-up last week and the Dr told me not to give him any milk to drink until at least 1 year! I asked about cheese and yogurt and he said both of those are fine just no milk! My friend started giving her daughter milk when she was 10 months old and it caused her to break out all over so the Dr told them to stop giving it to her and they started again at 1 1/2 years and she doesn't have any problems with it now! I would wait...It isn't worth it!

A. My daughter turned one last month and I started to introduce cows milk in her food. just a little at a time. Unfortunately it made her sick so I'm leaving off for a few months and will try again when I think she's ready. I've started to introduce calcium rich foods like baby bell cheese (it tastes of nothing!) normal cheese is too strong a taste for her. Try a little cows milk in some porridge or scrambled egg and see how it goes. Not all babies take to full fat milk by 1 year old but a little at a time should be ok. It makes me anxious too!

A. The 350 cows at Worthy Farm are some of the most fertile in Britain: on average of five out of 10 cows at Glastonbury give birth following insemination, compared to the national figure of four out of 10. Not only is the conception rate of the horny herd above average, but the interval between each calving is also shorter for the Glasto cows. They are moved toothe fields away from the festival site

A. call the number of cows "x" and the number of chickens "y". you know that x+y=35 and that 4x+2y=78. From the first equation you get y=35-x. plug this into y in the 2nd equation to get 4x+70-2x=78 which leads to 2x=8 or x=4 so there are 4 cows and then 35-4=31 31 chickens.

How did I get to fight cows without completing the game first?
Q. I played Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction a few years back and I picked it up again(new character). The thing that I'm confused about is that people say you have to complete the game(ie kill diablo and/or baal, depending on whether you have LOD) in order to fight those bipedal cows. How come I battled those guys without completing the game first? Possibly a bug? Or is there some kind of way to get to them without completing the game?

A. You can do it without beating the game. Transmuting the leg inside of the horadic or how ever you spell it cube at the area with rocks will bring you to the zombie cow level.
