What is the number to report animal abuse?
Q. There is a lady next door whom is running a puppy mill. We have googled the number to report animal abuse and haven't found anything, and there is nothing local (because this is a stupid hick community). Is there a national number for the US to call? If not, what do you suggest we do? We are all highly concerned for the well being of these animals and the puppys produced.

A. No national number. You can try your local sheriff. If the animals are properly cared for, confined, and vetted you may not have a leg to stand on.

Is it animal abuse to only feed an animal food that is outside of its natural diet?
Q. Apparently some people here think it's not, arguing that cats and dogs can "thrive on a vegan diet." If this isn't animal abuse, then tell me why not.
Asked by Cliff - Wed Jun 23 20:36:54 2010 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I'm in agreement with you, Cliff. Cats and dogs are carnivores. I don't care if you can find taurine in eggs, they aren't meant to eat eggs. That's why I'm going to get a rescue pig. Not only will I be helping out a pig that was rescued from slaughter, but its slop-friendly piggy butt is going to enjoy veggie scraps :)

What is the craziest form of animal abuse you have ever heard of?
Q. Just recently in my town someone tried to neuter their own dog in their house, with only a knife. I don't get how some people act with their pets, but is there any animal abuse stories you have that you witnessed or heard of?

A. There was a link posted here yesterday referring to some crazy b!tch who made her puppy eat it's own feces as a toilet training method. Of course, there are many much more horrific cases, but that one wins my "stupid dog trainer" award. Add: oh, Hi - I couldn't believe that - that b!tch shouldn't be allowed to have dogs.

animal *ABUSE*?
Q. There's a 10th grader in this school who is a total snob, monster, and spoiled brat. She's also extremely shallow, and has several lackeys following her around. Vicious dogs at that. She brought her hamster to school and stuck it in her backpack pocket, which also has pens and pencils in it. She also left the poor animal in her locker w/out food or water. The girl treats it like a toy, and passes it around her friends. We tried telling the V-Principle, but he didn't care much. He only took the animal away and gave it to the 1st grade for a little bit, then returned it at the end of the day. Not only that, but apparently it didn't teach her a lesson. The girl brought it to the school festival today [the heat excruciating] and another child… [cont.]

A. There's a lot of people who would laugh about this situation and say "it's just a hamster" but you're right, something should be done. Do you think you could possibly 'steal' him? I'm sure he'd much rather live with you since you seem so caring :)

A. Unfortunately, you've received the publicly unpopular opinion in this debate. Here's some things I thought of off the top of my head that you could use: 1) The Cost The more people in jail, the more it costs; from court cases, filings, and jailing. The longer the sentence and harsher the crime is, the more it costs tax payers. We would also need more people to investigate animal abuse claims, which would lead to more cost. 2) Prison Over-Crowding The more people in jail for committing crimes against animals, the less room there is in jail. If you make animal abuse crimes harsher, then other crimes get pushed down, things like theft and minor assault, and we're forced to either build more prisons or let those criminals out. There's a… [cont.]

A. Tea Tree Oil does wonders for treating dandruff. All you need to do is add a few drops of oil in your regular shampoo. Do this for a couple weeks, and it will be cleared completely. Tea Tree Oil is also useful as a local anesthetic, anti fungal, etc.

Q. I have an assignment to write to a government official about an issue i have strong feelings on. My topic is animal abuse/testing and how i feel more and stronger laws need to be put in place to protect animals. To whom should i write about this. I want to write to someone as "high up" as i can while still hoping to have someone who cares. I live in Kansas if that makes a difference.
Asked by taylor k - Mon Feb 16 00:58:10 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Write to your state representative. Animal abuse laws are, for the most part, creatures of state law. Some states have tough laws while in other states animal abuse is not taken too seriously. In Kansas, laws start with your state representative. (Not too many people write to their state reps, so there is also the advantage that your letter might get his or her attention.)
